레이 엘시
RAY LC는 우리가 현재 스스로의 과거를 이해하고 (잘못) 해석하는 방식에 비추어, 미래의 관점에서 우리는 자신을 어떻게 바라볼 수 있을지를 탐구한다. 그는 과거와 현재의 다양한 기술적 제약 속에서 인간이 어떻게 창의성을 발휘하는지에 매료되어 있으며, 이는 무용 공연의 구체적 움직임에서부터 생성형 AI를 활용한 사변적 디자인에 이르기까지 폭넓게 드러난다.
UCLA에서 신경과학 박사(PhD), 파슨스에서 디자인 테크놀로지 석사(MFA)를 취득한 그는, 비디오 설치, 로보틱스, 몰입형 미디어 등을 통해 국제적으로 작품을 선보여 왔다. 그의 작업은 아르스 일렉트로니카, 뉴 뮤지엄, 국립아시아문화전당, SIGGRAPH 등 다양한 기관과 페스티벌에 참여했다.
RAY LC’s practice probes how we see ourselves from perspectives of the future, given how we currently understand and (mis)interpret our own past. RAY is fascinated by how humans express their creativity under differing constraints of technologies of the past and present, from grounded movements of dance performance to speculative design with GenAI.
RAY has a PhD in Neuroscience (UCLA) and MFA in Design Technology (Parsons). These outcomes are exhibited at venues like Ars Electronica Linz, New Museum, National Asia Culture Center Gwangju, SIGGRAPH.
